Coco Plum Island Resort was featured on one of HGTV’s newest shows – Island Hunters. It’s the same concept as House Hunters, but instead of houses it highlights exotic private island escapes. In the episode featuring Coco Plum, couple Pamela & Paul are in search of a destination wedding and honeymoon in Belize. Be sure to tune in on Friday, February 17th to see which private island they choose!

The HGTV Island Hunter marathon starts at 12PM Central Time and the episode featuring Coco Plum is scheduled as the second episode airing at 12:30PM. Please check your local listings to confirm time. Schedule/episodes subject to change.

SPOILER ALERT: Of the three Belize private islands, Pamela & Paul choose Coco Plum! They found that our private island paradise was the perfect mix of privacy for their romantic beach wedding with all the amenities of an all inclusive resort.

Coco Plum Island Resort is an adults only all inclusive private island resort. With only 18 oceanfront cabanas and a 3 bedroom / 3 bath overwater villa, Coco Plum is the epitome of romance and seclusion.

Belize Lobster Festival

Coco Plum’s First Annual Lobster Festival!

Kick off Summer with an island celebration of the opening of lobster season in Belize!

With the days getting longer and our tans getting darker, summer is definitely around the corner; that means that a large number of beach activities and beach parties are on the horizon! A typical Belizean summer entails various agricultural fests, as a whole array of foods “come in to season.” As agricultural products are produced by the season, the tropical climate of a Belizean Summer welcomes mangoes, cashews, and lobsters by throwing large festivals – or “fests.” Get ready to experience all the savory, fresh flavor that Belize has to offer!

The Lobster Fest is the most popular, as it is held multiple times in various locations, including San Pedro, Caye Caulker and Placencia. Traditionally, fishing for lobster has been a source of revenue for many local residents; now, we are happy to share the culture surrounding lobster with visitors to Belize! These events – with their discounted drinks, wide array of creative lobster dishes, free concerts and fun competitions – draw quite the crowd, from locals to tourists alike. Hotels in these locations are fully booked just weeks before the event, as everyone wants to ensure that they can be a part of the lobster frenzy.

Guests of Coco Plum are in luck as we are offering our first private island version of the Belize Lobster Fest experience! Look out for music, games and of course tasty lobster delicacies. Be prepared to devour lobster anyway you like: grilled, fried, boiled, or even in a delicious ceviche. Enjoy all that Lobster Fest has to offer without the huge crowds, while enjoying the unlimited local drinks included in each of our All Inclusive packages.

On arrival at Coco Plum, you will be welcomed with the first of many tropical drinks – the mosquito bite. After your voyage to Belize nothing beats the savory taste of a cold, tropical drink decorated with an umbrella and lime. For some of you this might become your favorite drink throughout your stay and luckily, the mosquito bite is included as part of our all inclusive packages. Most drinks that are made with local rum are included in the all inclusive packages (list of drinks not included here). Check out the recipe below so you can try it yourself!

Brandy (1-2 ounces)

Mango Squash mix (can substitute for tropical juice mix)

Coconut Rum (2 ounces)

Follow these Steps:

Belize All Inclusive Private Island

How Coco Plum Island Resort, Belize Began!

Coco Plum Island Resort is a sixteen acre private island off the coast of Dangriga, Belize. Our private island is perfect for couples seeking an all inclusive romantic getaway to unwind and relax as well as explore the beautiful country of Belize! Here’s a chance to get an insider scoop on the history of Coco Plum Island Resort!

In Belize, small islands near the Belize Barrier Reef are commonly referred to as “cayes” and Coco Plum caye is part of the Coco Plum Island Range system located about eight miles off the coast of Dangriga Town in Southern Belize. In fact, Coco Plum and the neighboring cayes were once one large island!

However, in 1961, Hurricane Hattie made landfall on Belize as a Category 4 hurricane and split the Coco Plum Island range into three smaller cayes. Hurricane Hattie had such a devastating impact on Belize (then known as British Honduras) that the standing governor had to move the capital city from Belize City inland to Belmopan. One of our lovely housekeepers, Ms. Celia, remembers Hurricane Hattie as the worse to ever make landfall in Belize to date. Although she was a young Belizean child, Ms. Celia recalls chaos and destruction throughout the country. Today, fifty-three years after Hurricane Hattie, Belmopan is still the capital and Coco Plum Island Resort is one of the three remaining cayes of Coco Plum Island range.

Coco Plum Island Resort is locally owned and operated by Belizeans. About 20 years ago, the owner acquired the island and slowly began development. He recalls the early stages when Coco Plum was only on a small portion of the island –

“First, the only developed part of the island was where the bar is currently … the only thing I had out there was a picnic table and barbecue grill and the family would hang out there on Sundays; this is where the dream grew and began to become a reality. Later, I designed and built the first cabana. Back then we only referred to it as the Orange Cabana, but that cabana is still standing today and we decided to name it Rainforest to remind guests of the lush, tropical rainforest we have here in Belize. Today, this is still one of my favorite cabanas on the island because it brings back so many memories”
